Charles Herbert Porter Born July 21st, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Leslie E. & Frances Porter and went home to be with his heavenly father on July 14th, 2013. He grew up in Jacksonville, Fl. and graduated from Landon High School class of 1949. He attended the University of Florida and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He remained a Gator his entire life. He joined Porter Lighting with his father & brother on Riverside Avenue. In the mid-70 s her established Porter of Arkansas, his own electrical business, in Little Rock. He sold Porter of Arkansas in 1998. In 2000, he retired and moved to the beach in St. Augustine, Fl. with his wife, Gloria. He loved the beach, but most of all he loved his family, and was generous to all. He is predeceased by his mother and father, brother William L. Porter, his eldest daughter Maureen Elizabeth Truett, and his step-son Michael J. Reed. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Gloria Reed Porter. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Alice Massey, son, Charles Stephenson Porter, daughter Meriwether Leslie Kelly, grandchildren Zachary Sunderman, Chase Furrer, and Grayson Kelly, three great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends. There will be a graveside service at Oaklawn Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July, 19th. Dr. Steve Porter will officiate. Donations should be made to a charity of your choice .
