Charles was a loving husband, caring father, and proud papa and loyal friend. He enjoyed a wonderful life full of adventure. He and his wife, Thelma, visited many places throughout the United States, travelling abroad to Ireland where he kissed the Blarney Stone, Germany, and enjoyed many cruises, the last one being a 10 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean in celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary (returning 8 days before his passing). He was a very active Christian, worshipping with the Chaffee Road Church of Christ. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was proud to be a World War II veteran; Serving his country as a Paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. After leaving the Army he worked for the Seaboard Coastline Railroad until an injury forced him to retire.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by a brother, Johnie Miller and a daughter, Evie Hartzog. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Williams Miller, son Robert Jackson Miller (Rachel), daughter, Carol Marie Lee (Gaylan), 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandson, many nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends. Charles is also leaving behind his travelling companions, sister-in-laws, Pauline Williams Griffiths and Bobbie Williams Kahne, and brother-in-law, David Kahne.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
