Cecilia “Cissy” Vernimo passed peacefully at home with her family following her hard-fought battle with cancer. Cissy grew up on Jacksonville’s Westside and graduated from Trinity Christian Academy. She was a successful business owner who in her spare time, enjoyed crafting and decorating. She considered her husband her best friend, her children her greatest accomplishment and her grandchildren her greatest joy.
Nothing was more important to her than family! She was the center of the family’s universe and hostess for all family gatherings. Everyone was welcome and no one ever left hungry!
Cissy was predeceased by her mother, Cora “Sony” Cenizal. She is survived by her father Rogelio Cenizal Sr. and her brothers Rogelio (Sheila) Cenizal, Rodello (Tammy) Cenizal, and Ronaldo (Melissa) Cenizal.
She is survived by her loving husband of 34+ years, Arlen Vernimo, her children; Asia (Christopher) Kovacs, Max Vernimo, Alyssa (Austin) Gant; and grandsons; Cameron and Mason Kovacs. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who will forever miss their “Teta Cissy”.
Cissy was known for her love of children and pups. As such, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Jacksonville Humane Society.
A memorial service for Cecilia will be held Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
