Cecil Cyrus Simmons, Jr.

Cecil C. Simmons, Jr., 60, of Jacksonville, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013. He was born on December 18, 1952 in Baltimore City, MD to Cecil Sr. and Joyce Simmons. Cecil was a long time resident of Jacksonville where he lived since leaving his childhood home in Oakland, MD at the age of 17. He graduated from Garrett County High School in 1970 and served in the United States Navy 1971-1991 achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class before retiring. In 1997, Cecil married Deborah Simmons on August 23. He had a profound love of motorcycles and loved spending his time with friends and family during weekend gatherings. Cecil's parents, Cecil Sr. and Joyce Simmons, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his son, Chris McGinnis of Mount Storm, WV and his daughter, Theresa Coffman of Jacksonville, FL; his step children, Alicia Wallace and Phillip Neuenkirch of Jacksonville, FL;his sisters, Norma, Liz, Vicky and one brother, Bobby; four grandchildren, Landon, Lydia, Joshua and Lillian; and his mother-in-law, Carroll Krueger. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
