Catherine Mariellen Conners Robertson, 78, was born December 24th, 1935 in Pensacola, Florida. She returned home to God on August 31st 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Florida. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Catherine Conners; her brothers, Terrence and Charles Conners; and her grandson, Jordan Manasco. She will be fondly remembered as a loving, generous, and caring mother by her children, Catherine (& Kevin) Manasco and April (& Jesse) Bradlee. She was a proud MeMe to Matthew, Brandon, & Katherine “Katie” Bradlee and Tyler & Trevor Manasco. She is also survived by her brothers Dennis (& Bonnie) Conners and Steve Conners; her beloved Aunt Eleanora Cerro and uncle John (& Peggy) Cerro. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews. She remained friends until the end with her ex-husband, Gordon Robertson. She was a Navy child growing up and lived in many places, her favorites being Virginia, New York, and California. Though both of her daughters were born in Florida, they have many wonderful memories of living in Virginia and the snow. Cathy attended church at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. She was a stay-at-home mom and nanny for many years before becoming a waitress at S & S Cafeteria. She was loved by all her customers for her friendly personality. She was known for her passion for photography, love of animals, especially cats, and shopping. Catherine also had a very giving spirit. This came through in how she treated the people around her. She never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone. Often, she would try to share her meals or treats with the kids even if she wasn't finished herself. Rare were complaints or criticisms as she preferred to assume the best intentions of everyone. Cathy was an avid news watcher, with an emphasis on local events and celebrity happenings. She loved classic entertainment and some modern shows and movies. She especially enjoyed watching game shows such as Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune. The Oscars were a favorite of hers, as were musicals like “Annie” and “Beaches.” She was a beautiful singer and especially loved to perform Elvis tunes. More than anything she loved hanging out with her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. She was happiest running around with them and grabbing dinner out. A visitation for family and friends will take place from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home; Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church at 1773 Blanding Blvd. Graveside service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park on Normandy Blvd. Reception to celebrate her life will follow at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church at 8701 Argyle Forest Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32244.
