Carolyn Cannon Kellihan, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and teacher, passed away at the age of 86 on June 18, 2015. She loved her family dearly and is survived by her daughter, Kathryn K. Jones (J. Mark); two grandsons, Kelly Sean Jones (Becca Gumtow) and Travis M. Jones; nieces and nephews, Anita Brannon Townsend (David), Fred Bannon (Yulien Liu), Leigh B. Carroll (Charles), Ann B. Kidd (Gregg) and Aubrey Arnold (Jack Webley); grandnieces and grandnephews, Courtney C. Spilker (Todd), Andrew Kidd and Christina Kidd. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dowe Kellihan “Kelly” and her sister, Anne Brannon. Carolyn was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church USA, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in the Presbyterian Women’s Circle, the Garden Club of Switzerland. She was a Teacher at Englewood and Crown Point Elementary schools for over 30 years. She later volunteered for many years at Julington and Hickory Creek Elementary schools. Carolyn touched the lives of many, more importantly she was a teacher to her grandsons and countless others who felt her love. It is those lessons from Carolyn that will make her live forever in our hearts. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27 in Mandarin Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 4:45 p.m. in Calvin Presbyterian Church 4050 Barnes Rd. S. Jacksonville, FL 32207, with Rev. Earle Sickels officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carolyn’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church or the church program “Shallow Well Program for Africa.”
