Brittney Megan Davis unexpectedly passed away on April 9th, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. Brittney was only 30 years old at her time of passing. Her family and friends are overwhelmed with sadness by her sudden and untimely death.
Brittney was born August 17th, 1992, in Jacksonville, to Rick and Dana Hughes. Brittney was a free spirit with a playful, loving, and giving nature. She was always ready for life’s next adventure. She enjoyed the chaos of motherhood and making memories traveling, spending time outdoors, supporting and attending extracurricular activities for the children, and hosting parties for her family and friends. Brittney graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in July 2021 while also being a devoted Navy wife, full-time mother of three, and running a successful business.
Brittney was an incredible mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Her smile was infectious, and she had these beautiful, bright blue eyes which shined with her incredible energy. Brittney had a huge personality and charisma that was endearing to those who had the privilege of knowing her. A perfect example of her loving and generous heart was when she accepted legal guardianship of her nephew as an infant. Less than a year later, she assumed guardianship of her niece, his newborn sister, ensuring the siblings remained together and providing both babies a safe, loving home. Brittney was the best sister, daughter, mother, wife, or friend anyone could have ever asked for. She had the capability to show tremendous love, even to the most undeserving persons. Brittney was loyal, thoughtful, honest, hard-working, and dedicated to achieving her goals. She found great joy in her role as a wife and mother, and her family’s happiness and well-being were always her top priorities.
Brittney had a particularly close bond with her mother throughout her life, always savoring the quality time they spent together on activities such as shopping, eating at their favorite restaurants, and camping together as a family. She was an extraordinary sister, always ready to lend a listening ear or offer encouraging words or advice. Brittney had this remarkable ability to make friends without difficulty. This characteristic, combined with her huge heart and personality, led to her having a phenomenal impact on many people in her short lifespan. Brittney’s life was not without hardships, but she never allowed the obstacles she encountered to prevent her from chasing her dreams. She always kept her head held high, willing to do whatever was necessary to accomplish what she set out to do. Her family and friends are beyond proud of her accomplishments and the woman she came to be. To know Brittney, was to love Brittney. We are so fortunate to have been graced with her dynamic style and personality, and the world will be a little less bright without her here.
Brittney is survived by her loving husband of seven years, McKinley Davis III; three children, Jaylah Makenzie, Elijah McKinley, and Kingston McKinnon; maternal grandparents, Frank and Marian Woodcock; mother, Dana Hughes; sister, Courtney Williams; nieces, Savannah Smith and Hailey Cope; nephews, Camden Williams and Noah Redick; mother-in-law, Araine (Les) Turner; father-in-law, McKinley (Ornell) Davis, Jr.; sister-in-law, Aryelle Davis; grandmothers-in-law, Odessa (Raymond) Williams, and Barbara (the late McKinley, Sr.) Davis; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other assorted family members, and many caring friends.
She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. As we mourn the incredible loss of such a beautiful person, we can and must cherish the memories made with Brittney in the brief time we had with her. Though her life was tragically cut short, Brittney lived a life full of adventure, fulfilling many of her dreams and goals. Her memory will forever be alive in our hearts.
Brittney’s memorial service will be held on Friday, April 28th, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park at 1pm.
