Dr. Brian Jay Bard, affectionately known as Skip, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2018 with his wife and son by his side. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 2, 1954, Brian was very devoted to his family and truly loved his extended family and close friends. Brian is survived by his wife, Sotheary Bard, his son, Bryson Bard, his mother, Jeanne Bard, brothers David and Jay Bard, sisters, Irene Stone, April Bard, Nancy Gay and Ann Oswald, stepchildren Jenny Harper, Paul, Derek, Dawson and Ling Taing. He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Claire Reed and his father, Dr. Edwin Bard.
Brian graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Biology from Florida State University, taught Chemistry at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma and graduated from Georgetown University Dental School in Washington, D.C. Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking for his family and friends, boating, fishing, scuba diving and having annual Florida State Football get-togethers at his home where he would cook incredible seafood for all of his friends and family.
He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up for Brian’s wife and family.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Greenlawn Chapel, 4300 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Graveside services will follow at 2:00pm at Greenlawn Cemetery.
