Bonita Frances Bragan went to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ, and her many friends and beloved family members who had gone on before, on December 20, 2024, from continuing serious health issues. She suffered a stroke in December 2022 and was bedridden for the last two years.
Bonita was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 6th 1952. She graduated from Shades Valley High School and attended Jefferson State junior college and later the University of Alabama Birmingham.
She worked for U.S. Steel at a first aid station/clinic and then worked at University Hospital.
In 1984 when her father purchased the Jacksonville Suns Baseball Club, she moved to Jacksonville and never left. She worked at Wolfson Park for many years helping her family. She also worked for AT&T, and won a sales award.
She was predeceased by her parents, Peter Bragan, Sr. and Mary Frances Bragan. She is survived by her brother, Peter (Nancy) Bragan, Jr., her longtime companion Dan Hughes and two Aunts, Ann Jaynes and Sarah Bragan, one Uncle, Joe Sims and cousins too numerous to list.
Special thanks to the staff at Dolphin Point Healthcare for all their help the last year and a half.
There will be a visitation at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn from 4-6pm on Monday, December 30, 2024.
Internment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham with a service at 11am on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at John's-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel.
