Betty E. Redd, 90, a life-long resident Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2016 after a brief illness. Ms. Redd was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.P. Redd, sisters; Anna Jean Suttles of Jacksonville, FL and Charlotte Redd Cooper of Maclenny, FL and niece, Nancy Smith of Ft. White, FL. She is survived by nephews: George Suttles (Suzanne) of Jacksonville, FL and Wayne Cooper (Angie) of Jacksonville, FL; nieces: Kay Kay Suttles Akins (Roy) of Statesboro, GA, Cheryl Stripling (George) of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Susan Bednarski of Carlsbad, CA; along with brother-in-law’s Charles Suttles of Jacksonville, FL and Richard Cooper of Maclenny, FL.
Betty was a graduate of Florida State College for Women before it became known as Florida State University. She utilized her education to become the Chief Laboratory Technologist for Baptist Hospital, where she worked for 37 years. Betty was also a life-long member of Murray Hill Baptist Church. She served the church well by working in the nursery for over 50 years.
Services will be held for Ms. Redd on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Murray Hill Baptist Church, 4300 Post Street. Her visitation will begin at 10:30 AM with her funeral service starting at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Boulevard. HARDAGE-GIDDENS TOWN & COUNTRY FUNERAL HOME, 7242 Normandy Boulevard is serving the family.
