Betty Jane Cample-John Shields

Betty Jane Cample-John Shields, age 100, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024. She was born November 28, 1923 in Jacksonville, Florida to loving parents, Lillian Eugenia d’Auvergne Cample-John and Frank Herbert Cample-John Sr.

Betty Jane graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and a local business college. She was assistant manager of a construction news firm and a devoted & loving mother to her twin daughters, Tara & Tamara.

She was a member of the Junior Woman’s Club of South Jacksonville, Y.W.C.A., The Little Theater and a longtime supporter of The Jacksonville Symphony that she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Scarborough Shields, Jr. and daughter, Tara d’Auvergne Shields and is survived by her daughter, Tamara Shields Aycock (Tommy), niece Marilyn C. Heim, great-nieces and a great-nephew.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 31 at 1:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207. A committal service will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
