Basel Yacoub Snober, of Jacksonville, Florida, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Monday December 26, 2022, at the age of 85. He was born the eldest of 7, on January 13, 1937, to Yacoub Zaghlool Snober and Nasra Yacoub Snober in Jaffa, Palestine.
He married his beloved wife of 57 years, Zuha Basel Snober on August 29th, 1965, and was blessed with four beautiful children. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1977 and established himself as a hardworking and well-regarded local business owner of Basel’s Tailor Shop in Jacksonville for over 40 years. A devoted follower of Christ, he was known in the community as a dedicated servant of God at San Jose Catholic Church where he regularly attended and volunteered.
Basel inspired many with his strong will, determination and strength to build a wonderful life for himself and his family. His humor, resilience and love for others will continue to live on in those who were blessed to be a part of his life and carry his memory in celebration of him.
He was predeceased in death by his father, Yacoub, his mother, Nasra, and his sisters Farah and Suaad.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Zuha, his daughters, Khawlah (Andrew) Salman, Nisreen (Farid) Mousa, and Nancy (Stephen) Snober-Cooper, his son, Yacoub Snober, brothers, Odeh Snober, Said Snober, and Samir Snober, sister, Mary Snober, eight grandchildren, Justin, Julianna and Jonathan Salman, Victoria, Sammy and Abigail Mousa, and Eliana and Adelina Cooper, and many nephews and nieces.
Services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at San Jose Catholic Church 3619 Toledo Rd. Jacksonville, Fl 32217. The rosary will be at 12 o’clock pm, a funeral service mass at 1 o’clock and the burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
