Ardith Williams Harper, 80 years old, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 surrounded by family. She was born in Waycross, GA on February 14, 1935 but had lived in Jacksonville, FL since 1944. She is preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Margaret Harris Williams, Sisters Mattie Martinez, Remelle (Bub) Bessent, Brother Felton (Audie) Williams, Sister-in-law Carol Williams, and granddaughter Angie Harper. She is survived by husband Davis Virgil Harper; sisters Ada (E.T.) Windham and Deidra Williams Cox; brother Malcolm (Louvenia) Williams; and a beloved brother-in-law John Martinez; five children David (Charlotte) Harper, Keith Harper, Dee Ann (Biff) Smith, Wendell (Sheri) Harper and Kendell (Susan) Harper; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and at least one more on the way; as well as a host of cherished nieces and nephews and extended family. She was a loving wife to Virgil for 61 years and caring mother to more than just her own children and a very dedicated employee. Ardith began working as a teenager in a bank and kept that as her career choice for life. She loved what she did, be it raising a family, building a church, or running a trust department, or offering advice. Family will receive friends and family 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday March 18, 2015 at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Chapel 729 S. Edgewood Avenue Jacksonville, FL. 32205. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, March 19, 2015 at funeral home. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
