Anthony “Tony” Frye, 56, passed away surrounded by his family on November 1, 2019, in Jacksonville’s Baptist Medical Center South Hospital, after battling cancer for nearly four years and a recent bout of pneumonia. Tony was a graduate of Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, VA, moved to Jacksonville, FL, 32 years ago, and was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Mandarin.
Tony is preceded in death by sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Frye, and nephew, Garth Webb. Survivors include father Peyton Frye, mother Judy Frye, sisters Joan Frye and Lynn Frye, brother James “JC” Frye (wife Jojo), nephews Chris Frye (wife Kim), Jason Conty (wife Princess), Carlo Conty (wife Rochelle), niece Larissa Charoubi, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
The family would like to express many thanks to those who fought the cancer battle with Tony, namely the Cancer Specialists of North Florida, Dr Safeer Ashraf and staff, and Dr Vickie Prince.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during a memorial service on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville FL 32223.
A second memorial service will be conducted on Monday, November 11, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at St. John’s the Evangelistic Catholic Church, 344 Maple Ave, Waynesboro, Va. 22980. A burial service will follow at the Riverview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chris Frye, Brian Hutchinson, Darryl Comer, Carl Shull, Tony Floyd, and Nick Hundley.
