My sister Nancy and I were sorry to learn of Aunt Ann's passing ... our Dad (Anthony "Tony" Sercel)  and her older brother passed away before Thanksgiving last year ... he would have been 102 in December.  We are so glad Aunt Ann had a wonderful family to look after her in Florida.  Dad tried to call her often. I'm sure Grandma Sercel, Pap, Aunt Mary, Dad, Aunt Ann and  Uncle Vince are all together in Heaven now.

Ann has been part of our family since July 1976 when we met her thru her husband Ed during my employment at Florida Rock Industries.  We immediately recognized Ann as a very special person with understandings that went deeper than most.  She had a spiritual sense about her that gave her the ability to size people up as well as a sixth sense that went went beyond the living.  Her & Ed attended our wedding the following year and many years later, Ann became our first born son, Ryan's Godmother.

During the 43 years that we knew her, she became a more important part of our family and to our two children than their own Grandmothers.  She always had an opinion on every situation from Religion to Politics, society and everything between.  She not only encouraged people to perform their best, she created an air of expectance.  We loved her stories about her mother, her brothers, her time as a surgical nurse in the Army during WW-II and her subsequent adult life.

After her husband's passing, she joined us for every family holiday except in recent years when she could no longer travel.  During several of the final years, she would have spirited conversations with another dear friend Dr. Teddy Garcia who has also passed.  We know that she had many close friends that she developed personal relationships from neighbors to church members where she was an integral part of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for many decades.  We will all miss her but she will remain part of our family in our hearts.
