Andrew Frank Korunes

Andrew was born on December 28, 1963 in Niagara Falls, NY to Edward and Theresia Korunes.

Andrew graduated from Wolfson Highschool in Jacksonville and went on to attend Florida Community College here in Jacksonville where he was certified as Electronics Technician. He went on to work for Southeast Electronics, Hoyt Sound, AOL, and later to become a Network Administrator with a local attorney at law, with his career culminating in a position at the Florida Department of Transportation where he worked for the Office Information Technology supporting Special Applications and Workstation Technical Support.

Andrew loved the outdoors. He spent many hours hiking, photographing his hikes, collecting rocks, studying the sky – especially the night sky. He was someone who saw things in a special way. He was well-read and loved to tinker. He believed that everything deserved a second chance and could be repurposed and reused. He was champion at recycling.

Andrew is survived by his mother, Theresia and his brother LeRoy Korunes and nieces Katharine and Michelle. Andrew also has survived by cousins who reside in Michigan and Germany. Andrew is also survived by his longtime partner in life, who he called his wife, Lee Anne Caputo.

He was preceded in death by his father Edward L. Korunes.

Special thanks to MD Anderson Cancer Center Downtown Jacksonville, Barnes Home Health Nursing Staff and The Cardiac Nursing Staff, Doctors, and Clergy at St Vincent's Medical Center Riverside. A memorial service will be held on September 9, 2023 beginning at noon at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
