Andrew was born on May 19, 2003, in Jacksonville, Florida to Danny and Shannon Bishop. An accomplished student, Andrew graduated from Stanton College Preparatory School with an International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2021 and was currently a junior at the University of Florida. Andrew constantly challenged himself academically and strove to gain a better understanding of the world around him by learning about other cultures and philosophies and engaging in activities too numerous to name.
True to his nature, while at UF, Andrew was involved in a variety of groups and clubs. Dance was one of his true passions which he expressed through the Filipino Student Association (FSA), ACE Dance Team, and Surge. His generous spirit and outgoing personality impacted everyone he met and will carry on in all the lives he’s touched.
Andrew gave in death exactly as he gave in life, as it was his wish to have the opportunity to save others if he could not be saved. Andrew gave the gift of life through organ donation.
Andrew knew no boundaries and accepted everyone as they were. He was the first person to step up for anyone who needed help and let them know that not only did they truly matter, but he sincerely cared for them. We are comforted by Andrew’s outlook as shared here in his own words:
“It’s important to value the moments you have and opportunities given to you.”
“To the people in my life right now, thank you for showing me the importance of community and being both an individual but also someone who can have empathy and compassion for the people around them.”
“I’ve been feeling really thankful for the people I’ve met.”
Andrew is preceded in death by his grandfather, Sammy Bishop. He is survived by his parents, Danny and Shannon Bishop; his sister Megan Poole and brother-in-law Zackary Poole; niece Olivia Poole; his grandparents Ed and Karla Lofberg, Ronnie and Regina McIninch, Tom and Denise Steep; his aunts Angie Bishop and Debbie Chamberlain; his uncles Jason Bishop and Erik Nelson; as well as many other extended family and loved ones.
Andrew’s beautiful life will be forever cherished by his family and friends. The Celebration of Life will be held at United Methodist Church located at 11270 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida on October 25, 2023, at 1 p.m. The family asks that you wear blue, Andrew's favorite color, or blue and green for organ donation.
Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the ICU trauma unit at Ocala HCA hospital who assisted Andrew. Donations in Andrew’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
