Amanda Patterson Buffkin passed away on January 1st, 2020 at the age of 94. She was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and grew up on a farm in Abbeville, SC. Amanda graduated from Greenwood College of Commerce and moved to Washington DC, where she worked for theFBI as a typist and met her future husband, Reuben Buffkin. After Reuben’s retirement from the Navy, she and the family settled in Jacksonville, Florida in 1960. Amanda enjoyed being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved entertaining with large family meals and travel. She was also a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, the St. Paul bowling team,and Daughters of the Nile.
Amanda is preceded in death by her parents; Vera and Shala Patterson of Abbeville, South Carolina, her brother; Douglas Patterson of Greenwood, South Carolina, and her husband of 59 years; Reuben Buffkin.
She is survived by her daughter; Deborah B. Paleologo (Fred), son; Timothy W. Buffkin(Kathy), grandchildren; Amanda Paleologo, Alana Paleologo,,Cole Buffkin, and Connor Buffkin, and Carrie Harrison, her longtime friend and caretaker whom she considered family.
Services in honor of Amanda will be held on Monday January 6, 2020 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. John’s Bluff Road, beginning with a receiving of friends at 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of her life at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church. Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills is proud to serve the family.
