Alva Geneva Douglas Bellows, 95, of Jacksonville passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015. Born December 19, 1919 in Lake Butler, Florida she was a daughter of the late Horace and Cheta Douglas. They moved to High Springs and she graduated from Alachua High School. In 1954 she relocated to Jacksonville. She was a longstanding member of Parkwood Baptist Church. She retired from Sears Roebuck after 28 years and also retired from “The Atrium” retirement community in Jacksonville. Alva was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick H. Bellows. Surviving is her only son, Frederick E. Bellows (Kimberly); grandsons, Steven E. Bellows (Joyce), Bradley A. Bellows and Casey G. Bellows (Lauren); great grandchildren, Krista Bellows, Rebecca Bellows and Jacob Bellows.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11:00am at Hardage-Giddens, Chapel Hills Funeral Home with the Rev. Manny Keyser officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service, at the funeral home.
