Alicia Geronimo Villacorta, 85, of San Ildefonso, Bulacan, Philippines, peacefully passed away on March 18, 2022, at Community Hospice Hadlow Center for Caring. The second of Alberto Geronimo, M.D., and Feliciana Sanga’s ten children, Alice was born on December 4, 1936.
Alice worked as an environmental chemist for 20 years for the Philippines’ Department of Health after graduating from the University of Santo Tomas in 1958. She later started a pastry (“ensaymada”) business and successfully ran it for 10 years, after which she decided to move with her family to the United States.
A dedicated wife, a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a dutiful daughter and sister, and a loyal friend to many, Alice lived a full and purposeful life. She spread love, peace, understanding, and patience, and led a prayerful and spiritual life. Her hallmarks of hard work and selfless dedication to family were an inspiration to many. Most of all, Alice instilled in her children a strong work ethic and the importance of a close-knit family.
In addition to her husband of 58 years, Dennis Villacorta, Alice is survived by her children, Lisa Halasan (Enrico), of Rutherford, NJ, Jackie Pasco, M.D. (Felipe Jr., M.D.) of Jacksonville, FL, Carol Yap (Willie), of Rutherford, NJ and Kate Talty (Mike), of Scotch Plains, NJ; and grandchildren Alexa, Kevin, Chris, Jon, Joaquin and Luke.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be at 5-7 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home Mandarin Chapel with Father Raphael Lavilla, followed by a mass service on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Baymeadows Rd, Jacksonville, Florida.
Family and friends wishing to send flowers may send donations (in lieu of) to the charity of their choice for victims of the Ukraine crisis.
