A Purposeful Life – Tom Hubbard, Ret. Coast Guard Commander, husband, father, brother and Jacksonville, FL native passed away on Dec. 24, 2021 at 86. His passions included intellectual pursuits, history, travel, spending time with family and in particular, his love for one woman, Joan P. Hubbard to whom he was married for 63 years.
The two met at Landon High School where Tom was a football player and Joan a cheerleader. Tom and Joan shared their life together, raising three children, Priscilla Goudreau-Santos, Pat Hubbard and Bill Hubbard. They were each successful entrepreneurs in their own right and were to found and successfully operate a bed and breakfast inn in Jacksonville Beach, FL for over 15 years.
They were also founding members of the Beaches Anglican church, Church of Our Savior. Tom served both in the Air Force and the Coast Guard Reserve and was known for the highest personal integrity. He was a civil engineer in Jacksonville for many years. He is survived by his children, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild who was the light of his life. His brother, Patrick Hubbard, resides in Columbia, SC with his wife Judy.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at Church of Our Savior, 2092 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL, 32250 and is open to friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Church of Our Savior.
