She was born in Jacksonville Beach on April 17th 2004.
She was survived by Martin and Laurie Ramos; sisters Cassidy Lauren Ramos and Scarlet Martina Ramos; grandmothers Helen Ramos and Wonnie Clements; and a lot of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Roxanne attended Saint Paul’s Catholic school from K-4 through 6th grade and from an early age her love and talent for art was evident.
In 7th grade, she auditioned for a place in the visual art department at LaVilla School of the Arts and was accepted. Returning home on the first day of school, Roxanne declared “I have found my people!” and from the very beginning, Roxanne excelled artistically and academically. In her two short years at LaVilla she consistently earned a place on the honor roll, won a silver key award for sculpture in addition to the teachers’ award in English, logging over 60 books in one school year.
Her book collection is massive and reflects her unbounded intellectual curiosity and passion for nature. She wrote almost daily in a journal about the things that fascinated her.
She was diagnosed with a rare cancer the following summer, and fought the battle for over three years, but refused to be defeated.
She continued creating, opened an Etsy store, started a cookbook of handwritten complex recipes and expanded to new art mediums with one of her acrylic bird paintings selling at the Cummer gallery for $1,500.
Roxanne loved anime, D&D, taking Willow to the dog park, loved God, and was a loyal and fierce protector of her two sisters.
A dear friend wrote a beautiful summary about Roxanne’s life we would like to share.
“Roxanne was a renaissance woman!!!
She was fascinated by learning!!
