He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 24, 1946. Ron graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1964. He was married for 35 years to Betty Jo Purcell when she preceded Ron in death. Later, he was married to Anita Jo Thompson; she too preceded him in death.
Ron worked as a Fireman for the City of Atlanta then as an Emergency Medical Technician at Hartsfield International Airport when he retired. His love for hunting and fishing led him to his pastime of taxidermy.
Boating and the Salt Life led him to the shores of Neptune Beach and his retirement at the beach.
He is survived by his son, Randy English (Sherry) of Flowery Branch, Georgia; grandchildren, Blake English (Brandi), Chad English (Amanda), Brittany Kelly (Matt), all of Flowery Branch, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Bentley English, Liam Kelly, Wyatt Kelly and Ava English; trusted friend, Chip Robinson; and many, many community friends.
Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. on September 28, 2019 with visitation 1-hour before at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
Committal Service at 1 p.m. on October 13, 2019 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, Georgia.
