Rick was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was a patriot and talented musician, who both played and taught music.
Rick was born May 29th, 1951 in Jackson, Mississippi to Joe V. and Elaine Johnson.
He was predeceased by his father and is survived by his mother Elaine Johnson, his wife, Linton “Lyn” Van Dyke Johnson, his beloved son, Joseph “Jay” Johnson, Jay’s mother, Lora Dupre-Vivas, his sister Rhonda (Walter) Shealy, brother Joe Darrell (Susan) Johnson, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and assorted in-laws and outlaws.
Rick served in the military and was honored to be chosen to play in the Army band. After returning from military duty, Rick continued his passion by making beautiful music both here and abroad with many other talented musicians who remained friends, really, brothers and sisters, until the end.
