He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Geraldine West and nephew, Daniel. He is survived by his children, Roxie and Jes; sister, Debbie; and other extended family including Allen, Courtney, Amelia, Walter, Sr., Lynn, John, Victor, Eva, Walter, Jr., Ryan, Alex, Adam, Nick and Kylie.
He had a prosperous career as a salesman for A. Smile Jeans and was the Vice President of Sales for the Southeast Division of Cotler. Richard and Geraldine spent most of their time together either travelling across the Southeastern United States for business or travelling across Europe and the Caribbean on vacation. Richard also made frequent trips to the Jacksonville Beaches as he enjoyed fishing and swimming along the Atlantic Coast. He dedicated the last years of his life towards raising his family in a Catholic household.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with visitation 1-hour before services at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 435 1st Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach with a reception following immediately afterwards at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1401 2nd Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach.
