Richard Caron, 66, passed away Sept 16,2016 after a long battle with cancer. "Rick" was born in Brunswick, Maine where he lived until joining the Navy, eventually assigned to Mayport Naval Station. He loved being at sea with the guys. After his Navy days, already having had 2 children, Rick graduated from Florida Tech with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He traveled to Georgia each day for 30 years working for Bayer Crop Science as an engineer. He loved the camaraderie at work. He had a deep love of Scotland and recently was able to make a 2 week trip immersing himself in their culture.
It was here while in the Navy that he met his wife Karen of 41 years and had three children, Ian Caron now residing in Mass., Amanda Caron Gouge living in North Carolina , and Gretchen Caron Barker here in Jacksonville and 6 grandchildren. Rick is survived by his brother Roger Caron still in Maine.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday September 24,2016 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach.
