Pete served multiple tours of duty in Viet Nam as a U.S. Navy Diving Officer. He left the Navy in 1972 to pursue a legal career, and after graduating from law school he served as an assistant prosecutor and a defense attorney in Columbus, Ohio, along the way becoming a U.S. Army Legal Officer serving in the Ohio National Guard. The law had become his profession, and he eventually assumed a federal judgeship in Peoria, Illinois before settling in Jacksonville in 1992.
A Master Mason, he was a lifelong member of the Society for Creative Anachronism and had a penchant for the great outdoors – taking his family on many adventures into the Canadian wilderness. He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Shevaun Fennell of Peoria, Illinois and Angela Reed of Silver Spring, Maryland, and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 am Friday, March 8th, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am, in the Chapel of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL.
