In loving memory of Maxine K. McKiernan, a remarkable soul whose journey began on February 28, 1939, in Millwood, GA. Maxine peacefully departed this world on December 4, 2023, with her daughters by her side at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.
Maxine was a beacon of resilience, navigating the challenges of life which started with humble beginning. Her devotion and selflessness knew no bounds, setting a shining example to her daughters of determination and strong work ethic.
Her heart found its home in Jacksonville, FL and Waycross, GA, where most of her adored family resided. In 1957, she moved to Jacksonville, FL, where she met her husband, John T. McKiernan, Jr. Their union in 1966 blessed them with two beautiful children, Michelle and Leslie.
Maxine's magnetic personality lit up every room she entered. She possessed an infectious sense of humor, boundless kindness, and an unwavering commitment to treating everyone with equality and compassion. Her green thumb brought life to gardens, her love for reading sparked curiosity, and her culinary skills delighted countless hearts.
She found joy in ballroom dancing, painting, arts & crafts and expressing her creativity. Maxine's zest for life extended beyond her hobbies. Her 30-year tenure began as a switch board operator and eventually a customer service representative at Southern Bell, which was a testament to her dedication.
A proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority since the early 1970s, Maxine cherished the bonds of sisterhood and the shared values they embodied.
