Mary Lou Frye, 65, passed away January 30, 2011. She was born in Princeton, WV on Oct. 17, 1945 and moved to Hopewell, VA where she graduated from Hopewell High School. Mary Lou took dance lessons throughout her schools years and tried out for the Rocketts at the age of 16.
Although she was accepted, it was determined that she was too young to join their group. On March 25, 1967, she married Arthur Frye and moved to Jacksonville in 1968 where she worked for Mike Davidson Ford for 17 years. Upon her departure from Mike Davidson Ford, she opened and operated Mary Lou Sandwich Shop until it was sold several years later. Mary Lou then went on to open her canvas shop, Canvas by ML & B until her declining health forced her to retire.
She enjoyed fishing and boating and was a member of the Captain’s Club. She and Arthur were in the process of building a home in Gaunaja an island 60 miles off the coast of Honduras. This was to be their little piece of paradise. She will be missed by her loving husband, Arthur R. Frye, Jr.; son, Arthur R. Frye III; and brother, Harry M. Jones, Jr. (deceased).
