Julie graduated from Hudson High School in 1984, and went on to study Pre-Physical Therapy at Clemson University from 1984-1987. From there, she transferred to East Carolina University to receive her B.S. in Physical Therapy in 1989. Later on, she returned to school at University of South Florida to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2016.
Julie had an excellent work ethic and was an incredibly talented physical therapist. She had the opportunity to work for various healthcare organizations including: Lee County School System, Sarasota Memorial Hospital / Early Steps, Lee Health Pediatric Orthopedics and Children’s Rehabilitation, and most recently, Wolfson’s Children Hospital.
Julie was a member of many organizations including USTA Women’s Tennis, Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), local church engagement, and Unto - a medical missionary organization. Julie had a passion for serving the vulnerable and had the desire to return to Africa to aid children with medical disabilities.
Julie was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her two daughters Alissa Michelle Schweers and Brooke Suzanne Schweers of Jacksonville, Florida; her mother Beverly “Bunnie” Boyd of Jacksonville, Florida; her sister Jill Boyd Patterson (John) of Ponte Vedra, Florida; and her niece, Grace Suzanne Patterson of Ponte Vedra, Florida. She is predeceased by her husband Philip Bradley Schweers and her father Robert Gray Boyd.
She is missed dearly and her loving spirit has left a positive impact on her friends and family.
