Joyce will be remembered for her adventurous and free spirit. In her lifetime, she traveled the world, crossed the globe many times and explored every continent. When she was at home, she loved to get into her convertible to hit the road for day trips and for long drives across the country to satisfy her thirst for life and freedom. She lived life with passion and courage, always determined to make the most of every day.
Joyce served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years retiring on November 17, 2004 and was awarded many medals and commendations for her service to our country. She continued to serve others beyond her military service through community events and involvement in the American Legion Post 129. She loved the Lord and worshipped with her church family at Palm Valley Baptist Church. Her life was a living example of Romans 12:10, "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."
She is survived by her two children, Larry Clark and Teresia Buxton; a granddaughter, Gracie Buxton; her mother, Mary Rimer; and a brother, Jimmy Rimer. She was preceded in death by her father, James Rimer and her sister, Judy Clark. Joyce treasured her entire family, her friends and neighbors and considered them some of her greatest blessings.
