Predeceased by his father, Charles; mother, Emma; sister, Frances; brothers, Dale and Robert. He leaves behind 3 daughters, Cynthia Burright of Las Vegas, NV, Donna Miller of LaMesa, CA, and Rita Miscally of Middleburg; and his constant companion, Lucy Freeman.
Mr. Sutton graduated from Findlay Senior High School in June 1947 and immediately started his military career enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Upon completion of his first enlistment, he entered the U.S. Navy in 1952 where he served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in 1970 as a Chief Warrant Officer and a well-decorated veteran. He moved to Atlantic Beach, FL in 1988 and became active in the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), Branch 290, where he served three terms as Vice President and three terms as President. He has chaired and served on all of branch 290’s Committees and served on the BOD since 1988. In 2007, he became Vice President, Southeast Region, FRA. In 2008, he served as President, Southeast Region and later served on the National Board of Directors. As a continuous member of FRA since 1967, he was twice named National Shipmate of the Year for Public Relations. His love of country, family and the FRA will be missed by all those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in the Chapel of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME BEACHES CHAPEL, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 5-7 pm and on Tuesday morning from 10:30 am -11 am.
