Born November 27, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Thomas Vincent Gilsenan Sr., and Ann Leblein Gilsenan. He courageously and honorably served the community and department of the East Orange Police Department. After retirement he then moved to Jacksonville, Florida with his family.
John Joseph Gilsenan is survived by the love of his life his devoted and faithful wife of 40 years, Jacqueline Shanahan Gilsenan. Their three children, John Thomas Gilsenan (Teresa), Shannon Gilsenan-Lumbag (Jose), and Kimberly Kinney(Kevin), along with seven grandchildren (Miranda, Shawn, Nickolas, Kathleen, Rylee, Elise, Skylar) and one great grandchild(Gavin). He is also survived by 1 sister and 4 brothers. John was an amazing husband, father, pop-pop, and friend; his infectious smile will be deeply missed along with his friendly greeting of “HEY GUY”.
His final resting place will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery after a life celebration at Hardage Giddens Funeral Homes at Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
