Jimmy was a loving father and husband, mentor to many, and was loved by all during his short lifetime. He was the warmest person you would ever meet and had never met a stranger. He always had a smile to share and a huge hug for everyone. He lived each day to the fullest; shared his heart and honesty with everyone in his presence every day.
Jimmy was a successful business owner of Huxham Heating & Air, Inc., and owned a music recording studio A1A Audio Productions in Jacksonville Beach, FL. From a young age, he had an entrepreneurial spirit and was always smart, focused and passionate.
His passion and love of music was well known. He played bass guitar with multiple bands for many years and was the lead singer of the Lucky Stiff with a groupie following like no other. His early years in south Florida started his career as a self-taught young rock and roll musician with long blonde hair. He devoted himself to mentoring young musicians and was always deeply involved in the Dancin in the Streets, Atlantic Beach, FL annual celebration. His legacy will live on through all those musicians that will continue to entertain throughout the years.
He had passion for everything in life each day whether it was his loyalty to the Kentucky Wildcats (Go Big Blue), his love of traveling, or just spending time with his family and dearest friends in his life. Anyone who ever met Jimmy would agree that he had a presence that was larger than life.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Jeanne, his sons Ian Gilbert (Brandon Harris); Cale Gilbert; sisters Johnnie (Stanley) Durbin, Lexington, KY; Janet (Fred) Turner, Covington, KY: Step-son Kyle Yerdon; Step-son Brian Yerdon; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Alson Gilbert, Sr. and Ollie Gilbert along with 4 Brothers and 3 Sisters.
