Jack was Wooster High School's all time football star and an accomplished athlete in baseball, basketball and track and was inducted into the "All Sports Hall of Fame" at Wooster High School. He earned a football scholarship to Miami of Ohio where he played under two legendary coaches, Woody Hayes and Ara Parseghian. Jack then followed Woody Hayes to The Ohio State University to continue his football career. Later Jack entered business in the emerging electronic office equipment industry starting with Sperry Rand. Eventually Jack owned Business Equipment Center of Jacksonville.
Throughout Jack's life he was an avid sports participant, playing golf and tennis at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club where he captained several tennis teams. He was a volunteer for 38 years at the Tournament Players Championship, where he chaired several volunteer activities through the years. He was President of the Ponte Vedra Beach Community Association from 2007 to 2008 and a recipient of the Community Association "Good Guy" award in 2010. Over the many years in Ponte Vedra Beach, Jack was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Jack was predeceased by his mother, Juanita Garner Briggs, his father, Charles L. Palmer, Jr., and his brother, Charles L. Palmer III. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Marianne Eleanor Zimmermann Palmer, daughter, Lisa Dawn Palmer of Jacksonville Beach, and his beloved dog, Trixie Noelle.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 with a reception following at the Church Parish Hall.
