He was born August 8, 1946 in Nashville, TN., of Dell Simpson and the late George D. Simpson Sr. He was retired from Capital Partners for the last 8 years. He enjoyed his volunteer work as an Auxiliary Officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. His hobbies include water gardening, fishing and coin collecting, but most of his time was spent with his dogs, Pepper and Zoe, and his surviving wife, Shirley Ann Simpson. They were married on August 17, 1974 and spent 39 loving years together.
He is survived by his son David Lucas, three granddaughters, Crystal Johnson and her husband, Ryan Johnson, Alexis Lucas, and Michele Lucas; one great grandson, Justin Cake; brothers William Simpson and his wife, Brenda, Larry Simpson and his wife, Carol, and Robert Simpson and his wife Connie; his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.
The viewing will be held Thursday, February 20, from 6-8 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home located at 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 and the funeral mass will be held at the funeral home on February 21, at 11 AM with Father Anthony officiating. The burial will be immediately after, located directly behind the funeral home.
