Ethel attended Northeast Jacksonville grammar school, Kirby Smith junior high and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1944.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Nicols, Sr., parents, Edwin T. Porter, Jr., and Ethel Brooks Porter, her step-mother, Eunice O'Connor Porter, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ethel (Momma, Mom, Sis, GG, Fifi) was loved by all and a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. Everyone who’s life she touched will remember her as the ‘Queen,’ the belle of the ball, the life of the party, the comedian and zinger of one-liners, an incredible singer and dancer, the lover of music, sports, laughter and smiles, possessing incredible strength those close to her have witnessed and appreciated most the last few years.
Ethel was a long time member of Beaches United Methodist Church and the Pairs and Squares International Sunday school class. She also served as a volunteer in several areas of the church over a period of many years.
Ethel will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Robert, at Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville during a private ceremony on July 28th.
A celebration of Ethel’s life will be held at a later date.
