Clara Elizabeth Phillips died Monday, Jan. 9, 2023 at her home. She was born to Hazel and Clyde Ogilvie and had one brother, Clyde Ogilvie, Jr. Clara was married to Capt. Claude D. Phillips, former President of CEO of the Amoco Transport Co. They were both born in Mayport and attended local schools. They lived on Heckscher Dr. after Claude’s retirement in 1985. After Claude’s passing, she moved to The Valley at Hidden Hills to be close to her son. Clara loved cooking and animals. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Kay Sartoris (Doug) of Corpus Christi, TX and two sons, Carl Griffin of Orlando and H. Lee Griffin, III of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Dustin Sartoris (San) of Austin, TX, Dean Sartoris (Audrey) of Corpus Christi, Christopher Griffin of Jacksonville, Jonathan Griffin of Jacksonville Beach, and Carlie Griffin of Orlando; two great-grandchildren, Genevieve M. Sartoris of Corpus Christi and Dean Michael Sartoris, Jr., of Corpus Christi.
