Cheryl Theus Seaton (69) left her earthly home on January 29, 2016. She passed peacefully without pain at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida following a recent diagnosis of melanoma of the brain.
Cheryl was born in Ludowici, Georgia on April 26, 1946. She was the daughter of Ardis and Eula Theus. Cheryl was the 5th child, the youngest, and was always referred to as “THE BABY”. Cheryl graduated from Ludowici High School and Georgia Southern College. She taught school in Nassau and Duval Counties for thirty-five years. She was the past President of Duval County Health Educators. Cheryl retired to the Florida Keys thirteen years ago where she sold “seashells by the seashore” as her retirement hobby. Cheryl was a shining sunbeam adored by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Brian E. Seaton (Lesley). Candace C. Waugh, her life partner, stepson Judson S. Waugh (Nicole), stepdaughter Page Waugh Toal (Liam), grandchildren: Caroline and Mason Seaton, Mathis and Ruby Toal, and Baby Waugh. She is also survived by her sister Pam Jordan (John). Her brother Alfred S. Theus (Sybil). Nieces: Dawn Smith (Tim), Yvonne T. Griffin (Mike), Tere Miller (Creg). Nephews: Fred Theus, Charles Theus, Art Groover (Mia), and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Ardis and Eula Theus, sisters Fay T. Smith, Julia M. Groover, and nephew Tal Groover.
A service to celebrate Cheryl’s life will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 11:00 am at Beach United Methodist Church, Historic Chapel, 325 7th Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes all donations go to the Northeast Florida Aids Network in honor of Cheryl T. Seaton, 2715 Oak Street Jacksonville, Florida 32205.
