

Bob D. Marsden, Sr. passed away February 5, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born September 10, 1928 in Childress, TX. Bob served during the Korean conflict with the 45th Infantry Division of the US Army. He met his wife, Jackie, while attending Oklahoma Baptist University. They were married in 1948 in El Reno, Oklahoma. Bob moved his family from Oklahoma to Jacksonville in 1957. He was the Mayor of Jacksonville Beach, member of the City Council, President of the Chamber of Commerce, owner of the Dairy Queens at the Beaches, former Deacon of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville Beach and involved with many other community affairs.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacqueline Ezell Marsden, his children Bob D. Marsden II (wife Maureen) and Deborah McKay (husband David), grandchildren Christie Lauderdale, Michael Barie, Brandon Barie, Luke Marsden (wife Connie) and Drew Marsden, great-grandchildren Sarah and Coleman Lauderdale and brother Durwood Marsden (wife Junelle). He was predeceased by his granddaughter Ashley Marsden and sister Micky Brundage.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday, February 9 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11am Monday, February 10 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 435 1st Ave N, Jacksonville Beach, with Father William Kelly officiating. Graveside service will follow at H. Warren Smith Cemetery in Jacksonville Beach.
