

Audrey C. Ellis, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 31, 2013 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Maude Case, born in East Providence, RI on November 6, 1921. After graduating high school, Audrey attended Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing where she was the yearbook editor. She graduated with a nursing degree on January 3, 1944.
Audrey married LtJG Charles E. Ellis on April 3, 1944. She made the Navy life an adventure, living in several stateside bases and overseas including Ecuador and Cuba. They were married for 68 years.
The Ellis’ lived in S Florida from 1962 to 1974 then made the Jacksonville area their home from 1974 to the present. Audrey joined Community Hospice in 1979 and was a long time volunteer. Some of her many hobbies included quilting, sewing, book worm, gardening, rooting for the Jaguars, and playing the organ. She was also an avid crossword puzzler.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Charles E. Ellis, two daughters, Jane Duncan of St. Augustine, FL and Bonnie B. Wissink of Gaithersburg, MD, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey’s visitation will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Hope Community Church, 1710 Kernan Blvd. N. Jacksonville, FL, with a funeral service following at 11am. A private interment will immediately follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
