THOMPSON Anne Chapman Thompson, 84, passed away December 19, 2012. She was born in 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Music Performance. An accomplished classical pianist and organist, she trained under several well-known artists, including organist E. Power Biggs. Later in her music career, she was an instructor at University of Miami and organist for Saint Faiths Episcopal Church in Miami, Fl. She married Jack Douglas Thompson in 1951 after he finished his service in World War 2 and they moved to Miami in 1957. She lived in South Miami with her husband, two sons, and assorted pets. In addition to raising her family, she taught piano, volunteered as a reading tutor to underprivileged students and performed as an organist for her church St. Faiths, also at Temple Judea in Coral Gables and various other venues. After her husband’s passing in 1990, she moved to Ponte Vedra Beach. She enjoyed the beach, the Jacksonville Symphony and seeing her grandchildren grow up. She was a loving mother and wife, wise counsel to all, a savvy investor, and fearless for all challenges. She will be missed deeply by her family and many friends. Survivors include her sons, David C. Thompson (Mildred) of Boca Raton and Kenneth D. Thompson (Dawn) of Ponte Vedra Beach, along with her grandchildren, Kristina and Jack. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday December 22, 2012 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach.
