She was born Ann Hyatt in Washington, Indiana, on November 10, 1926. After graduation from Indiana University in 1949, she married James Kenney of Quincy, MA, who pre-deceased her in May, 2009. Her sister, Margaret (Hyatt) Capeci also pre-deceased her, and she is survived by her sister Mary (Hyatt) Schnabel and brother Paul Hyatt.
Ann was the devoted mother of seven children, grandmother of 19, and great-grandmother of 36. Ann is survived by her seven children and their families, namely Margaret Manahan (John) of Jacksonville, FL; Stephen Kenney (Beverly Shinn), of New Orleans, LA; William Kenney (Renee), Loveland, OH; Mary Thompson (Kevin) Perrysburg, OH; Robert Kenney (Betsy) Greenville, S.C.; Ann Ayers (Fred) Erie, PA; and Catherine Brumm (Tom) Friday Harbor, WA. Ann is also survived by dear friends Hoang and Khanh Le and their three children. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Ann was a writer, poet and teacher. Ann and Jim Kenney were at various times active members of St. Joseph’s parish, St. Luke’s parish and Prince of Peace parish.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Luke’s Church, Middleburg, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, followed by interment at Holly Hill Cemetery.
The Viewing will be held at Hardage-Giddens Beaches Chapel Funeral Home at 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach 32250 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 (904)249-2374
