During WWII he was a Navy air ship gunman. He then attended FSU and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in restaurant / hotel management.
Allen joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1951. He received many commendations for his work in the Sinatra kidnapping and various bank robbery crimes. Eventually he was assigned to Quantico, Virginia where he became the leading firearms training instructor for all law enforcement agencies within the area. Because of his sharp shooting abilities he also gave many exhibitions with his Smith and Wesson .38 revolver to groups touring the Quantico facilities. In 1970 he was transferred to the Jacksonville FBI branch where he continued to do casework and firearms training. In 1980 Allen retired from the FBI and was then hired by the Florida Bar as a case investigator and expert witness.
Over the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis, and travel. Throughout his life he was an avid Seminoles fan. Though his gifts were many, his greatest was his steadfast devotion and commitment to family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Virginia Booth and all but one sibling (Thelma). He is survived by his wife of 4 years Vonell and his three sons, Robert (Brenda), Kevin (Karen), and Kerry (Moza) and his 4 grandchildren, Kyle, Erika, Connor, and Kody.
