Woodrow Bruce Smith

Bruce was born on October 2, 1944 in Jackson to the late Woodrow Washington and Tracy Hill Smith. He was retired from the Jackson Police Department as a lieutenant after 30+ years of service. Prior to that he was employed at the Jackson Fire Department as an arson investigator. He was also employed at Rockwell Industries prior to that. Mr. Smith was also an Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Smith; and sister, Alice Jane Harris.

Bruce is survived by his wife Cathi Maxwell Smith; son, Jason Smith; brother Gene Smith (Gina); brother Donald Smith (Chris); brother-in-law, Gary Maxwell (Wanda) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial to follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers to serve will be Matt Smith, Nicholas Ross, Shane Ross, Bill Heidelberg, Gerald Wiltshire, and Randy Hampton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Smith, Donald Smith, and Gary Maxwell.
