William Gary Smith

He was born on August 6, 1952 to the late W. Ralph and Sue Carter Smith in Gibson County, TN. Mr. Smith was a member of Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church. In 1989, he was united in marriage to Deborah A. Biscontine. He did factory work for many years before becoming disabled in 1989. He enjoyed doing part-time security work at his church, coaching 3rd-5th grade girls’ basketball, participating in the UMM Prayer Breakfast, and teaching pre-school age Sunday school children for several years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ralph G. Smith and brother-in-law Thomas Pillow.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Biscontine Smith of Jackson; sons Joe Smith of Humboldt and J.T. Smith of Auburn, Washington; sister Martha Pillow of Milan; father-in-law Paul Biscontine of Jackson; mother-in-law Virginia Moore of Waverly; a very special sister-in-law Barbara Keith Smith of Benton, Louisiana; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, May 14, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Dr. Gary Morse officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Humboldt.
