William was born on June 29, 1937 to the late Noah Lawson and Vera Lillian Jackson Diggs.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ella Mae England Diggs; son, Bill Diggs and wife Carol of Pinson; daughter, Jeannie Diggs Kearney and husband Keith of Albert Lea, MN; grandchildren, Caitlin Diggs and Will Diggs of Pinson; and sister, Linda Diggs England and husband Jerry of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Murrell, Earl, Kenneth, and Troy, and sisters, Artice Privett, Annie Maas and Margaret Diggs.
After serving in the United States Army, William worked for Watlington Brothers Construction, Brasfield Construction, Youthtown, and retired from his own company, Diggs Construction. He was a member of Pinson Baptist Church and was well known for his whole hog barbeque.
A visitation will be held at George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday, October 30 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Pinson.
