Timothy Jernigan

Timothy W. (Tim) Jernigan, age 53 of Jackson, TN, passed away February 15, 2010, surrounded by his family after battling cancer. He was a graduate of Southside High school and served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He worked for Williams Steel for 22 years. Tim throughout his life was an avid sports fan, He played baseball and football in high school, later becoming a certified umpire for girls fast pitch softball and boys baseball.

He is preceded in death by his father, James W. Jernigan; grandparents, Verlie Wade and Frances Jernigan, Edward and Lucille Struder.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Jernigan Finley of Jackson, TN; children, James Wade Jernigan II (Christin) of Gordonsville, VA, Richard Alan Jernigan (Angie) of Ashland, VA, Elizabeth Ann Jernigan of Jackson, TN; brothers, Jimmy Jernigan (Diana) of Jackson, TN, Robert (Bob) Jernigan (Sandy) of Bells, TN; sisters, Rose Jernigan Cupples (Jere) of Jackson, TN, Joyce Jernigan Moore (Tommy) of Jackson, TN; grandchildren, Santana Leigh Jemeyson, Sidney Wade Jernigan, Julie Ann Jernigan and Skylar Grace Jernigan.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 1 PM from the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Brother John Norvell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the South Chapel.
