S.C. "Shorty" Helton

Funeral services for S.C. “Shorty” Helton , age 69, will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Ken Skelton officiating. Interment will follow in Clover Creek Cemetery.

Shorty passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Jackson General Hospital.

Shorty was born on March 26, 1945 in Madison County, the son of Claud Truman and Clara Vernon Helton.

He was the owner of Helton Construction.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Helton; two sons, Doug “Pete” Helton (Jill) and Darren Helton (Debi), grandchildren, Zack, Dylan, Brianna, and Lily Helton; three sisters, Mae Murray, Ann Beacham, and Rachel Tims; a brother, Bobby Tims; and numerous nieces, nephews. and friends.

In addition to his parents, Shorty was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Helton, George Tims, and Doug Tims.

Pallbearers to serve will be Zack Helton, Doug Helton, Chip Johnson, Bo Holloway, Jimmy Odle, and David Bird.

Dylan Helton will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday evening, June 21, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
