Sara Ann was born on May 1, 1934 and was reared in Bemis, TN. She was the daughter of Wilga Lee and Olga Fore Kincannon and Robert Bates, who all preceded her in death. Sara Ann worked at the Tigrett Toy Factory and also at Rockwell International, where she retired. In addition to working outside of the home, she worked hard as a devoted and faithful mother, homemaker and a true servant of the Lord.
Sara Ann was a loving wife, mother, daughter, Granny and Great-Granny. She enjoyed working in her yard, spending time with family and friends, adored her church and loved making a home for her family. She loved planning family celebrations at her home, decorating for the holidays and taking family vacation trips. Her family was everything to her and her, everything to her family. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Bemis, where she spent many hours decorating, rearranging, helping, serving, working, worshipping and loving her Sunday School class. Most importantly, she loved Jesus and her church and wanted everyone to know the Lord.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Coffman and husband Edward; their son, Matthew and his wife Bobbie and their children, Coleman and Maggie Coffman; A son, Mark Scoggins and his wife Stacy, their children River Scoggins, Luke Scoggins and his son Lucas Scoggins, and Lance Scoggins, his wife Cassie and their children Jace, Cayson and Emma Scoggins.
In addition to her parents, Sara Ann was preceded in death, by her loving husband of 62 years, Bobby Gene Scoggins and a great-grandson, Camryn Jo Scoggins.
Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Matthew Coffman, River Scoggins, Luke Scoggins and Lance Scoggins, and great-grandsons Coleman Coffman, Jace Scoggins and Cayson Scoggins. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Dale Catlett, Buddy Askew, Ray Rowan, Lee Haskins, Larry Fesmire, Steve Chipman, and Jimmy Pierce.
Visitation with Sara’s family will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at First Baptist Church Bemis at 11:00 a.m. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. John Norvell officiating.
Burial will be Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in a private service at Ridgecrest Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to First Baptist Church Bemis, 116 Bemis Lane, Jackson, TN 38301.
